Sick kids ;(

This video doesn't show it very well, but Leah is getting around lots better.  She is even say Momomom!  I love it!  My kids always say dadada first, but not Leah!  :)  She is growing fast.

I think it is funny how Leah will roll or scoot over to this picture and "visit"  with her Grandparents.

Michael went to the talent show.  He did balloon animals and then did the Haka dance with the young men.  From the videos it looked like a great night.  I stayed home so the babies could get rest.  They haven't seem quite 100% well.

We had a rough day at Church today.  Dallin wasn't feeling well apparently.  I got called out of Sunday school, which never happens.  Dallin is potty trained and really has had no accidents since deciding he didn't need diapers anymore.  Yep his belly really did hurt.  Poor baby and poor nursery leaders who had to clean it up.  I felt bad, but needed to get him home so I didn't help clean up.  He is doing much better now.  Joshua was crying when I took him home too, he wanted to stay.

This week Joshua has his first field trip and dentist appointment to look forward too.  I know exciting stuff so stay tuned.  :)
This picture of my kids just makes me happy.  I just love them so much.  They are the best!

Monday's Ramblings

I always feel like I get behind during weekend and Monday I am playing catch up. Today is no exception. Last night was a rough night. Leah was up several times and so was Joshua. It made for a very short night, but Monday must go on and the routine is nice so here we go.
Joshua has been doing so good in school. He is so proud that he listens to his teacher. He has told me that he likes to make friends with other kids who listen as well. I also overheard him talking to Dallin in their bedroom. He told Dallin that they should pick up their room because it would impress me. It was so cute! He is getting so big. He likes making good choices most of the time. :) Now that being said this morning he said his first swear word. Is this something that is supposed to go in the baby book? ;) I feel like as soon as you know that there are words out their that are "forbidden" then you are now inducted into some secret club. You now have extra power to turn your parents and anyone else's heads. You have some secret that you want to share with other kids and laugh about these words you are not supposed to say. Anyway for those of you who are curious as to what went down here is the play by play:

me: Are you done with the blocks?
J: Yes
me: Well, then clean them up.
J: Dammit!
me: What did you say?
J: Dammit?
I then went on to explain that we don't use that word and it is not a nice word My next door neighbor who is twice Joshua's age says it sometimes and of course he has heard it here and there maybe on tv or when we are out in public. This is is first time trying to say it, and out of all the bad words, in my mind , is quite mild. He took my explanation really well, and didn't try saying it again so far.

After Leah wakes up from her afternoon nap this is how she greets me. Nothing beats that! I hope she is always so happy to see me. :) She hates to sit. I try and sit her down she will lay right down. I try and force her to sit she will stand. Weird baby. If I distract her with a new toy for a minute she will sit for a little bit, but then get back down to exploring. I try and walk Joshua to and from school and she is not a fan of sitting in the stroller. I try and distract her with toys. Dallin will sometimes help out and try and keep her happy. Today walking home from school Leah was crying much earlier than usual. I was a little worried this was going to be a long walk. Dallin turns around and starts trying to make her laugh. I am so relieved. I then look to see what he is doing that made this miraculous change. He was drinking up his water and then spitting it in her face. She was soaked and laughing with glee along with Dallin.

Dallin is my stubborn little boy. I have been wanting to trade car seats for a while now. Dallin's car seat is a convertible one, so I was going to move everyone up one car seat. Dallin refused and cried. I told him we wouldn't do it until he was ready. I asked him everyday for a week before he finally agreed to give up his car seat. He is happy and fine in Joshua's old car seat. Leah hates Dallin's seat (again hates sitting and she has to sit up a little more in this car seat), but she will have to get used to it. She is just too big for the other one now. Joshua is loving the booster seat. Dallin very much has a mind of his own. It will be interesting to see how he grows. He always keeps me on my toes. :)

My friend convinced me to run another race, so now I have 2 weeks before the race. I haven't been running like I should, which is why I do the races. It is the only way to force me to run. I hope I can get out their and run despite my exhaustion this Monday. :)

Michael has been running a little as well. I am going to see if he will run the 1 miles fun run with Joshua in November. It should be fun. He is working hard and keeping very busy.

Swimming

We are hoping Fall is coming, but it is still pretty warm, so it was a good time to go swimming! We were invited to a Birthday swimming party. We had a good time. We felt like the water felt perfect. It was nice and cool.

Leah took a little while to get used to the water, but ended up loving it. Thanks to our friends we had a great time yesterday.

We have been enjoying a little bit cooler tempatures. I have been walking Joshua to and from school. The boys only like it sometimes. I have had so many people offer me rides. I guess people just don't go outside as much as they used to, but it is nice to know that people are willing to help. :) I am always suprised when people "know me" just because they have seen me around the neighborhood. It is nice to know people are looking out for us. :)

Doing our thing

We are getting the hang of dropping and picking up Joshua from school. I have been trying to walk at least once, usually dropping him off. It is just still so hot here, but good news yesterday was supposed to be the last triple digit day of the year. Finally!!!! He is doing great at school. He likes his teachers and have made a few friends. He has his first field trip coming up so it should be exciting!
Leah is seven months today! I can't believe it. 7 months means to me that she is almost not a baby anymore. I am usually ready for the stages, but I love the 4-7 month stage. She is trying so hard to crawl. She gets up on all fours and rocks. She is scooting forward on her belly more, but still prefers rolling to get around. She has now decided that she can go on the our laminate flooring, so now I have look out for her when I cook. :) Cristina Sanchez made her dress and bow in the picture above. Cristina is talented.

Dallin is working on controlling his temper. We have some days better than others. I really enjoy the time with him when Joshua is at school It is pretty short because Dallin still naps, but I just love watching his personality come out strong. I have started working the alphabet with him, but he prefers counting so we go in the direction more. In the above picture we took Dad to the aboretum. It was fun. We of course had our good friends go with us. Our kids are just so cute that I had to share the picture.

We have actually had a little rain. We are in a nasty drought so we can't help but go play in the rain when it happens. We need more rain!

First day of School

Joshua went to school today. I have had anxiety all summer about this day. It was so easy for him. He put his backpack in his locker and sat down on the rug with the other kids. He waved by and pretty much shrugged me off. I did pretty good myself. Dallin, Leah, and my van that wouldn't start were good distractions. I did think that Joshua and Afton were so cute walking back home with their little backpacks on.

This school is all high security they have to wear id badges and lanyards. I guess I really do live in a the city. A special thanks to Elise for helping me out my van decided not start an hour before school started. After all of that he made it and had a good time. He said he will go back tomorrow. He did however tell me he would like to take Fridays off. He was very disappointed that he still had to go to school on Friday.

Tree Crashing

We went to bed on Thursday night. I had barley checked in on Leah around 11 PM. I went to bed and we were all fast asleep. At midnight I heard an awful loud noise. I sat straight up in bed, (which I thought only happened in movies) and asked Michael what that noise was. He went in and checked on the kids and asked me if it came from outside. I answered Yes of course it came from outside, no good thing could come from that noise. I can't believe he didn't hear it. Michael went to the deck and could hear noises. He called me out there and told me someone was on the deck. Later I asked him why he wanted me out there with him, and he answered I thought two people were better to fight off someone than one. Anways, we flipped on the light and saw that it was actually a huge tree branch crashing into our deck. The tree belongs to our neighbor so they came over. They decided that it could be taken care of for less than what insurance deducible would be, so we all chipped in and cleaned up. We started at 7:30 AM and finished for around 10:00PM. We finished cleaning everything up the next morning around 10AM. We have such good friends who came to help. We are so blessed to have wonderful friends! We were also blessed that no one got hurt and their was very little damage. Our neighbor is going to come back to fix our deck and our power line to our garage. This could have been so much worse and we feel so blessed that it turned out the way it did. We have no idea why the tree fell. We only figured that it was stressed due to the drought, but it looks healthy. Green leaves and all.

This is what we put out for the City to pick up, we kept the rest of the wood for camp outs and what not.

Saturday was also our Anniversary. We went to dinner and movie. Jenny and Tony babysat. It was so nice of them to sit for us. We had a good time. 6 years down and an Eternity to go, and still happy. :) Now we are gearing up for the first day of school tomorrow! Go Joshua!

6 months Stats and an Update

Flowers are so pretty and uplifting. A friend gave me these this past week. So pretty!

Joshua starts school on Monday. We have all of the school supplies and he is so excited. I am more nervous than he is at this point. We are definantly moving on to a new phase in life. The boys are getting along much better than last week. As we were all getting out of the van Dallin refused to get out so I pretended to leave him in there and shut the door. Joshua started screaming and said he would die in there. I love when they look out for each other.

At the campout the Scoutmaster said he was going to throw Joshua in the lake and Dallin started to scream no. This morning I told Dallin we were going to take Leah to the doctor. He asked if she was getting shots. I said yes. He said she is a little baby she shouldn't get shots. I just love my kids espeically when they stick up for each other. :)

Leah is 17 lbs and 1 oz. She is 27 inches long. She is all healthy and doing well. She likes to be on the move and rolls all over the place. She will also scoot on her back and on her belly a little bit. On her belly she scoots with her face down on the carpet. Ouch. She hates being left alone. She always wants someone with her and that someone is usually me. The kids will do sometimes, but usually she likes me around. She has started to wave at people. It is adorable. She can sit up briefly but prefers to travel around and discover what is around her. I will often find her under chairs and always by the tv playing with the cords.

She is great sleeper and is usually happy. I love this stage and sometimes wish it would last longer. She is just so cute and squishy.
