MLK Day fun!

We had a beautiful day on MLK day.  We went to the Arboretum and enjoyed the sunshine.

We were hoping the Children's Garden would be open, but it was closed for maintenance.

It was so fun spending a day together as family, especially since it was warm and sunny.

Family fun

It has warmed up a little so Leah, Evan and I have been playing at the park in the mornings.  Leah loves it!  She could swing and slide all day.

Joshua is my biggest food complainer.  This week he was complaining about dinner, so I asked if he wanted to make dinner.  He said he did, so he could make only things he likes.  I took him up on it, and taught him how to scramble eggs.  He really enjoyed it.  Leah and Dallin loved helping him.  I didn't get a final product picture because the kids ate it up in no time.  :)

Leah has transferred up to Dallin's old bike.  We are going to girl it up a bit for her.  She is getting the hang of pedaling and brake situation.

We are working with the boys to ride without training wheels.

While waiting for their turn they were playing with the scooter.

I wish we had better sidewalks where we live.  I think the boys would have learned earlier, but we got to the school and ride around.  If they get over their fear, they'd have it.  :)

After riding around for a while we finished up with zombie tag. The kids love zombie tag, it is all the rage at school apparently.  :)

Science Fair

Joshua entered the science fair this year.  He did Where Weather Comes From.   He did research about the rotation of the Earth to learn why the weather comes from the West. He had to track the weather here and track the weather West of us to see if the weather really does come from the West.  He worked hard and we proud of him.

New Year's Eve 13.1

I realize this post will be boring for most of you, but I like to have a little record for myself.  :)  I ran a half marathon on New Year's Eve.  I got my personal record of 2:17, so not too bad after having a baby 10 months ago.  As it was this year, I considered it a win to find time to run.  It was sad running with out Jenny and Elise.  I am thankful that Michael and the kids came with me.  It was cold, so I appreciated it even more that they stuck it out in the cold to support me.  It was a very well managed race, so Elise if you are ever back in Texas for New Years we have to do it.

I ran around 514 miles this year.  I hope to run more in 2014 because I am not planning on having any babies.  :)  I am kind of proud of myself for doing it, because between having four kids and lots to do it is so hard to find time to run.  I got up many Saturdays around 5am so I can be home around 7am because we had things to do.
