One Week

It has been a week.  Michael is returning to work tomorrow.  It should be interesting next couple of days.  Right now Evan wants to nurse or be held by me constantly.  Michael has done a great job helping out.  We missed my Mom like crazy!  This whole week has felt like one long day.  ha ha

This is our first family of six picture.  All in our pjs.

Michael had the kids roast hotdogs. No wonder he's the kids favorite. :)

Leah and Dallin love holding the baby.

We have been blessed with great meals! My sister Jenny and Tony have helped out a ton! I feel so blessed!

Evan's Birth Story

I was feeling a little more engergized on Wednesday so I had a feeling he was coming soon.  I went about our normal routine.  I ran with my sister Jenny around  6 PM.  A few hours after our run I started to have painful contractions about 7 minutes apart.  I thought this must be it.  I asked Jenny if she and Tony wanted to stay the night so they wouldn't have to transfer in the middle of the night. They came over and everyone went to bed except me.  I can't sleep as my contractions were longer and 5 minutes apart by now.

I labored by myself in the livingroom watching Say Yes to the Dress until about 2AM.  I went in and woke up Michael.  He replied that this night was going by faster then he thought.  ha ha.  I called the midwife and we went to the birthcenter.

We got to the birthcenter around 3 AM.  They checked me and monitored the baby.  The midwives Joyce and Linda then filled up the tub for me.  I LOVED the water.  It was so relaxing.  I hung out in the tub until I started feeling lots of pressure with contractions.  I then moved to the bed.

I started pushing on the bed around 4:30AM.  Orginally the baby was all lined up.  Joyce thought he should just come right out.  It was so painful to push.  I wasn't excepting so much pain while pushing.  After a while she checked and thought he had turned posterier.  She said I would just have to push through the pain to get him out.  I was getting a little desparate.  She then suggested sitting on the toilet.  I moved into the bathroom and sat on the toilet.  I tolerated it for a few contractions and then something just took over me and I ended up on the bathroom floor.  I begged to get back in the tub.  The midwives started to fill it up again.  Joyce asked if I was pushing and I said no.  They all left the room to grab stuff or take care of something. I do not recall having this conversation with Joyce at all.   I felt like I must look like a mad woman or Lady Hulk.  I finally pushed the head out, which suprised everyone.  I pushed him out in a deep lunge position.   Linda was closest and helped deliver the rest of him.  He presented with his arm up by his head.  Ouch!  No wonder it hurt to push.  Michael said they passed the baby to me like a football player hiking a football and we went to the bed.  He was born at 5:43 AM.

We rested on the bed for a while and then Evan and I enjoyed an herbal bath.  It was heaven to bathe in nice warm water after that.  We had a yummy breakfast burrito, and got ready to come home. We got home around 8:30 AM.  I loved being home right after delivery.  It was so nice to just be with my family and rest.  I enjoyed the experience.

Evan Joseph West is here!

Evan was born at 5:43 AM on Thursday February 28.  He weighed in at 8lbs 1 oz and was 21 inches long.  He is so calm and loves to sleep.  We are all doing well.  I'll post more later.  I am still a little tired.  :)

Other Feb Happenings

Joshua has a good friend at school who invited him to hang out at Celebration Station for his Birthday.  He had a good time playing golf and video games.

The pictures were taken by Joshua's friend's Dad.  He obviously has a nicer camera then me.  :)  He's a photographer.

I am happy Joshua found such a good friend.

This cat has been hanging out at our house for a while now.  At first my kids were a little nervous, but the cat just kept coming around.  Now Leah will bury it in leaves.  Dallin will stick his face in her face.  She doesn't seem to mind at all.  Every time we go outside to play she pops out to hang with us.

Now we are just waiting on baby number four.  I am due on Saturday so hopefully my next post will be his debut.  He seems smaller than my others, and I am feeling good still.  He may be in there a while.  I guess he is really easy to take care of right now, so I may as well enjoy the sleep while I can.

Valentine's Day

Michael got me this lovely candy bouquet.  It was yummy!  We had a good Valentine's Day.  We made heart shape pizza and played outside.  It was a gorgeous day!

A friend of mine saw this cute outfit and had to buy it for Leah so she is looking good!  The kids all got new shoes for Valentine's Day.  For some reason their feet just keep growing!

The boys love thier new running shoes.  I can hardly keep up with them on our walk home from school.

Leah's Stats

Leah had a tough day on Wednesday.  She kept injuring herself.  She fell on the stairs and now has this huge fatty lip.  I have given her popsicles to see if the swelling would go down, but it is slow to return to normal.  We took her in for her well check today.  She is doing well.  She is in the 50th percentile for weight and 80th for height.  She did really well for the Doctor.  She also had to get her blood drawn today.  She did not like that.  The man blew her vein and they ended up just sticking her finger.  Poor girl!

I just thought this picture was cute of Dallin doing his school work.  He was a big help with Leah today at the Doctor.  He showed her how to do everything and then she would do it for the Doctor.  He is such a good big brother!

Happy Birthday Leah!

My baby girl is 2 today!  She is very active so we decided on a mini tramp for her Birthday.  She loves it.  She has been jumping all day!

My Mom gave us a cabbage patch cake tin.  This is what we came up with for decorating.  I think it worked out just fine.  :)

We celebrated Leah's Birthday yesterday since Michael is busy today.  We dressed in 49er colors at Church.  No one noticed but I thought it was fun. Leah didn't really have anything to coordinate but she sure is cute!  ;)

Leah got a lot of great gifts.  She loves them all.  She has been wearing her gold sparkly shoes all morning!  We fed her Hawaiin haystacks for dinner.  She loves rice.  The only downfall is the mess she makes with rice.

Jessica and Dustin got Leah art supplies.  She loves them!

Michael is convinced this vaccuum actually sucks things up.  I think he is crazy.  He went as far as lighting a match to see if the smoke would get sucked up into the vaccuum.  ha ha.  Leah has been vaccuuming all morning.  Thank you grandma and grandpa rasmussen!

We are so glad Leah is a part of family.  She is an amazing little 2 year old.  We love you Leah!  I will update stats after her well check on Friday.
